En accord avec Casals, il choisit Arthur Grumiaux, l\u2019h\u00e9ritier de l\u2019\u00e9cole franco-belge d\u2019Ysa\u00ffe, et Joseph Fuchs avec lequel il avait partag\u00e9 r\u00e9cemment quelques concerts (en jouant notamment la <i>Sonate<\/i> de Franck). Fuchs \u00e9tait venu avec sa s\u0153ur Lillian, altiste de grande renomm\u00e9e, pour jouer la <i>Symphonie Concertante <\/i>de Mozart, et il avait rejoint Istomin et Casals pour jouer et enregistrer deux trios de Beethoven que Columbia n\u2019avait pu capter en 1951\u00a0:\u00a0<i>opus 1 n\u00b0 1<\/i> et <i>opus 70 n\u00b0 1<\/i>. Casals avait \u00e9t\u00e9 satisfait et Istomin r\u00e9invita Fuchs l\u2019ann\u00e9e suivante pour partager avec Szymon Goldberg la partie de violon de l\u2019int\u00e9grale des sonates et des trios de Beethoven qui \u00e9tait au programme du Festival 1954. Il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 stup\u00e9fait par l\u2019aisance et la virtuosit\u00e9 d\u2019Arthur Grumiaux au piano (Fuchs avait aussit\u00f4t pris son violon et ils avaient jou\u00e9 une sonate de Beethoven devant les musiciens de l\u2019orchestre, eux aussi \u00e9bahis). Et il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9galement \u00e9pat\u00e9 par les liens\u00a0familiers d\u2019Istomin avec Casals, Istomin pouvant de permettre de dire \u00e0 Casals apr\u00e8s une r\u00e9p\u00e9tition\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Bravo\u00a0!
