Il jouait des <em>Pr\u00e9ludes<\/em> par petits groupes de deux, trois ou quatre. Il les choisissait aussi bien d\u2019inspiration po\u00e9tique qu\u2019humoristique. Parmi ses pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9s\u00a0: <em>La Terrasse des audiences du clair de lune <\/em>et<em> General Lavine Eccentric, Les sons et les parfums tournent dans l\u2019air du soir, <\/em>mais aussi<em> Voiles, Les Collines d\u2019Anacapri, Minstrels<\/em>\u2026 Si les organisateurs lui en laissaient le loisir, il pr\u00e9f\u00e9rait choisir au dernier moment les pr\u00e9ludes qu\u2019il avait envie de jouer, selon l\u2019inspiration et la qualit\u00e9 du piano.\u00a0A la fin des ann\u00e9es 80, il ajouta \u00e0 son r\u00e9pertoire le premier cahier des <em>Images<\/em> qu\u2019il joua tr\u00e8s souvent, et il s\u2019\u00e9tait pr\u00e9par\u00e9 \u00e0 jouer les <em>Estampes<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"beautify\">Debussy \u00e9tait pour lui un antidote \u00e0 la forte pr\u00e9sence de la musique germanique dans son r\u00e9pertoire. C\u2019\u00e9tait un autre contact avec le clavier, une autre sensualit\u00e9, un autre plaisir du piano, celui de rechercher \u00e0 l\u2019infini des couleurs, des lumi\u00e8res. Il donna souvent des master-classes sur Debussy, faisant r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la peinture et \u00e0 la po\u00e9sie fran\u00e7aises qu\u2019il connaissait si bien.<\/p>\n<p class=\"beautify\">Il existe peu de t\u00e9moignages de ses interpr\u00e9tations debussystes. En 1968, il avait enregistr\u00e9 <em>La Fille aux cheveux de lin<\/em> et le <em>Clair de lune<\/em> de la <em>Suite bergamasque<\/em> dans la perspective d\u2019un disque de bis, qui ne fut pas publi\u00e9. Ces enregistrements ne para\u00eetront que quelque cinquante ann\u00e9es plus tard dans le coffret Sony r\u00e9unissant l\u2019ensemble de ses enregistrements en solo.
