Il \u00e9tait le petit neveu de Fritz Steinbach, \u00e9minent chef d\u2019orchestre et grand ami de Brahms, qui avait \u00e9t\u00e9 le professeur d\u2019Adolf et de Fritz Busch. Peter Maag avait commenc\u00e9 sa carri\u00e8re comme pianiste. Il avait jou\u00e9 le <em>Quatri\u00e8me Concerto<\/em> de Beethoven sous la direction de Furtw\u00e4ngler, qui lui avait alors conseill\u00e9 de se consacrer \u00e0 la direction. Non qu\u2019il se soit montr\u00e9 m\u00e9diocre pianiste, mais parce que Furtw\u00e4ngler avait remarqu\u00e9 qu\u2019il voulait sans cesse donner les d\u00e9parts \u00e0 l\u2019orchestre\u00a0! Il devint l\u2019assistant de Furtw\u00e4ngler puis d\u2019Ansermet.<br \/>\nIl fit surtout une grande carri\u00e8re de chef d\u2019op\u00e9ra, qu\u2019il interrompit pendant deux ann\u00e9es (entre 1962 et 1964) lorsqu\u2019il pensa que le succ\u00e8s lui avait fait perdre le contact avec le divin et avec la musique. Il se retira dans un monast\u00e8re grec orthodoxe puis aupr\u00e8s de moines <a style=\"font-size:0;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.francemedicale.net\/cialis\/\">http:\/\/www.francemedicale.net\/cialis\/<\/a> bouddhistes. Peter Maag ne se consacra prioritairement au concert qu\u2019\u00e0 la fin de sa vie, invitant d\u00e8s lors Istomin tr\u00e8s souvent.
